The Winter Solstice past, the wheel has spun, we raise a cheer to the new born Sun!!
We have had a Wonderful Winter Solstice- Here's hoping you have had so too!
Our Ritual Calendar starts anew. We look forward to the round of Rites & magick for the year ahead. So many great workings to muse over the previous twelve months.
Thinking of the Esbats we have worked & why, in what is primarily a Goddess centric religion we have not spoken of such? Obviously in an oathbound tradition the Mysteries & our Rites are not openly discussed. Our Esbats are worked as the full moon rides high in the heavens, an auspicious time for our Goddess & magick. This magick is a creative process of work under & imbued with lunar energy. One only has to look upon The Moon &/or The High Priestess Tarot card to understand this is a mysterious & somewhat secret process. These workings by their very nature are (maybe) less celebratory than the Sabbat Rites of the Solar festivities. The moon shines from the darkness, illuminating with her divine presence, augmenting to the flow of our magick....and that is really all we can say on that!
It is exciting to start thinking of our upcoming year, plan for new workings & think on ways to accentuate what we do. Likewise to look back, take stock of what we have learned from each other & from our Gods.
Also we would like to thank everyone who has reached out to us over the year & prior. Whether it was to express a wish to join, ask a question, or just curious about witchcraft & the Alexandrian tradition. We thank you for such candour, interesting and occasionally funny correspondence.
We would say that most people who contact do want Witchcraft to empower their lives. Probably not an all encompassing religion of Priestesses & Priests, which is what Alexandrian Craft is. This sounds awfully dour & it is a commitment to take our oaths into the most profound, exciting, empowering, freeing & fun & with a direct access to the Gods Craft one can get!! (yes, no bias & no wry grin here!!!)
Most though who pursue do soon come to the realisation this is not for them. We do not coerce or charge, we work together for our Goddess & Horned God as Priests & Priestesses. We can only hope to be a beacon of light, like the moon as she shines in the darkness. Initiatory Craft is a small community & not for most. It does though actively thrive on diversity & all personality types, as long of course suited to group work. The old adage of 'Many are called, but few are chosen', does though ring true. Most will almost unconsciously un choose themselves, after maybe doubting their own sense of dedication. We do all after all have busy lives & contrary to what may be popular belief, Wicca is not the quick internet fix so common in our want now age. Also it is'nt the public group Ritual of eclectic rites that generally utilise a few Wiccan techniques cobbled together from books. Of course all groups have a place and all are free (as should be) to label themselves as they see fit. I only say such as many who contact do somewhat seem to expect a more public side to Witchcraft, which is not our way.
The witchcraft revival, started by Gerald Gardner's Craft has been huge, with many now giving themselves the title of Witch, which is fantastic & liberating. For us who choose the Initiatory path it is a title one has to earn. Initiatory Pagan Witchcraft or Wicca opens as many & more doorways than there are answers, we as Witches thrive on such! The multi faceted numen of the Gods, the mysteries of the Goddess & Horned God is something profound, inviolable & unforgettable.
We wish You all the best for the New year ahead!......
